Week beginning Monday, 2nd March

In our Enquiry Theme work we will be sequencing the events of The Great Fire of London and learning about how the fire started.  In Design and Technology, we will learn about levers and sliders and how they create movement.  We will be measuring pieces of card and using split pins to create a lever.  In Computing we will revise our Year 1 knowledge about coding.

In English, children will use simple past tense to write a diary entry recounting The Great Fire of London in role as a butcher, weaver, tailor or a mason. In contrast, we will then look at present progressive tense to write a convincing speech to King Charles II requesting help for Londoners during the great fire.

In Maths we will begin learning about Money. Children use their knowledge from place value and addition and subtraction to find the total value of a set of coins. Initially, the children will focus on selecting pounds or selecting pence, explicitly focusing on notes and coins separately, before going on to choose both pounds and pence from a set of notes and coins.
