Information

SEND Provision

At Lowe's Wong Infant School we are committed to ensuring every child can learn happily together.  In particular, we strive to help every child to enjoy their learning and make progress by addressing individual needs and overcoming barriers together. For children with identified special educational needs and disabilities we work hard to achieve some key aims.

Roles and responsibilities for SEND

  • The SENCO is Mrs Sarah Segasby.  She ensures needs are met and SEND provision is well led and managed, supporting staff through training to understand and meet the needs of children.
  • The Governor for SEND is Mr Chris Heathcote.  Along with the governing body, he holds the school to account for SEND provision.
  • Each class teacher meets the needs of SEND learners through adaptive teaching and additional support and intervention for specific SEND children. They undertake ongoing training to support their skills.
  • Teaching assistants work with both the class teacher and children to help them access the curriculum.
  • The school is well supported by Local Authority provision and by specialist help, support and training from the Trust (MITRE), including from the MITRE school improvement lead for SEND, Mrs Marie Thompson.
