British Values

Promoting Fundamental British Values.

In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain.

Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.

The Key Values are:

•    democracy
•    rule of law
•    individual liberty
•    mutual respect
•    tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs

At Lowe's Wong Infant School the values are promoted in the following ways:

Democracy:  Each class elects two School Council members, and we vote for class treats when we have won all of the "stars in the jar".

Rule of law:  We follow our three school rules, and we follow our behaviour for learning expectations.

Individual Liberty: During Special Assembly we celebrate our amazing achievements in school and at home, and our "Culture Box" and "Show and Tell" activities help us share how individual we all are.

Mutual Respect:  One of our school rules is, "Be kind", and our PSHE curriculum helps us to learn how to respect others.

Tolerance: We welcome visitors into school to share their ideas and beliefs with us, and in our RE lessons we learn about different faiths.
