Pupil Well-being

At Lowe’s Wong Infant School, we want every child to feel supported, happy and confident. We know that mental health is just as important as physical health, and it plays a big part in how children learn, grow and enjoy school. Our motto, “Learning happily together,” guides everything we do.

We aim to provide a caring, welcoming environment where all children can thrive, whatever their experiences. Through our PSHE lessons (using the SCARF scheme) and regular assemblies, we teach children how to look after their mental health and talk openly about feelings.

We also understand that children can face challenges for many different reasons, and sometimes difficulties may be more noticeable at home than at school. If you ever have concerns, we are here to help.

Our Mental Health Team

  • Senior Mental Health Lead: Mrs Sarah Segasby
  • Mental Health First Aider: Miss Jo Aspinal
  • ELSA-trained TA and Draw & Talk practitioner: Ms Gina Hind
  • Wellbeing Link Governor: Ms Lucia Juraskova

We also work closely with the Mental Health Support Team (MHST), who provide advice, workshops and support for families. Parents can self-refer to the MHST, or school can refer on your behalf.

More details can be found in our Pupil Wellbeing Policy.

Below are helpful resources for parents on a range of issues such as separation anxiety, low mood, anger, bereavement and more. The first link includes a QR code for MHST self-referrals.
